Love and Loathe

Every week there is an avalanche of new celeb images some from the paps, some from events, regardless celebs have to put their best fashion face forward 24/7! So this week I figured I would do looks that I love and loathed!

I will admit I am not always the biggest Ginnifer Goodwin fan but in this look girlfrand is killing it! The short hair may not be my style but it allows the bone structure in her face to come out and her short hair works well with this sexy little number. Ginnifer is at a pre-Emmys party and I love her dress. The long sleeves balance the shortness of the dress and really bring it into fall fashion. The light blue and black contrast is nice, not something you see on every event carpet and the stud detailing is incredible if you ask me. The collar and cuffs jewel embellishment is a nice touch, therefore Ginnifer didn’t need a whole lot of other jewelry. Miss Goodwin finishes this sassy look with a matching black clutch and booties! A chic look for dinner out or cocktails, take note ladies!

My second runner up for Love is Allison Williams at the same pre-Emmy party as chic Ginnifer above. The only reason I gave this look a runner up is because last week I highlighted Leslie Mann for her illusion top dress and this is a similar style, but I love it none the less. The illusion top is lovely and the lace used is really nice, large scale lace because if it was small and dainty no camera flash wouldn't pick it up. The bow tie waist makes Allison look nice and slim, the bottom skirt fits nicely and she finishes off the look with classic satin pointy heels. I am really on the fence about the color of this dress, the bright pink is a bit much, I would have preferred it in navy or hunter green for fall but overall love the look!

Finally, this is a look I just can’t get into. Krysten Ritter is wearing this dress at a different clearly less fashionable pre-Emmy event. From head to toe what is going on with girlfrand’s hair? I don’t know if that’s suppose to be a slicked back ponytail/bun or if she just popped out of the shower? This brocade on the top of her dress is on trend but all one color looks thick and matronly. Also, I can’t tell if her collar just isn’t sitting right or if she’s rocking a mock turtle neck on the red carpet, either way it’s a fail. And that see threw skirt, NO! Just no!  You know Krysten knew it was see-threw also because she wore that granny body suit underneath. Finally, the shoes are alright but aren’t enough to save this failing outfit!

Lemme Borrow that Scarf

As the weather cools and the leaves change my thoughts continue on fall fashion. Sure last time I addressed some of my new favorite things but let’s talk fall essentials.  True, the “essential-ness” of fall items depends where you live, for example you probably don’t need a hat and mittens in Malibu or Miami and likewise in Chicago or New York you probably won’t be rocking short sleeve sweaters or tissue tanks! Hence this blog may not apply to all, but to me fall essentials are boots, jackets and cold weather accessories (scarves, mittens, etc)! So here it goes . . . . . . .

Fall means boots weather your rocking equestrian, biker or booties every fashionista knows sneakers are only meant for the gym range. For me personally I have just really gotten into/accepted the bootie look. These boots are great because they are versatile, easy to get on and off and provide a fair amount more flexibility. That being said these boots do NOT go with everything or every look, wear accordingly. All that being said my favorite booties of the moment are DV by Dolce Vita’s Java ankle boot. Whether you chose the suede or leather doesn’t really matter these booties are the perfect height to tuck the bottom of your skinnies into or let your flares hang over. The buckle wrapping detail adds a bit of interest and luxury, while the heel is the perfect height for day or night. Plus, the stacked heel should be easy to walk around in and gives a much more causal feel than a stiletto.  You can purchase these bad boys at most department stores that carry DV or on endless.com for next day free shipping at $129.99 a pop!

Next I love a scarf, whether it’s for fall warmth or just a stylish statement. All Saints is an uber cool brand but their scarves in particular are pretty great, they offer a variety of colors, styles and my favorite the snood/infinity scarf! The particular scarf I picked was the statement scarf because when you lay it all out it’s like a huge ad for all saints and personally I am just into a good script. This scarf is also great because it’s not your typical solid or stripped scarf, so I dig it. You can purchase this item on the all saints website for $95!

Finally this hat from free people is pretty much IT! I love this hat because of its unique nature, the variation of thread color, the texture it creates, the variety of hidden bows and of course the lovely pom pom to top it all off. I am still partial to the beanie style because it’s just such a carefree style, it’s hard to mess it up. Plus, if you’re rocking a hat your probably covering up some subpar hair! I love a topper and this hat is no exception for $48 dollar hairs on freepeople.com!

TEAM SATURDAY

Remember the 90s, and awesome groups like 98degrees, S club 7 and O-town? Arguably one of the best bands of the 90s was the Spice girls, remember their crazy/awesome fashion sense? Let me introduce you to the newest girl group from across the pond The Saturdays! If you’re a fan of the British girl group “The Saturday’s” then I am a fan of yours (and theirs)! They have had many successful singles and albums in the UK and now they are filming a reality show in the States (I know gasp!) so don’t be surprised if they “crack” the US market asap! The Saturdays are made up of Vanessa, Una, Rochelle, Frankie and Mollie, all of these girls are BEAUTIFUL and all have their own awesome sense of style. Frankie is well known for her short haircut, and was named of the UK’s most beautiful people. Una just married Rugby star Ben Folden, and had the most precious baby girl Aoife. Bandmates Vanessa and Rochelle have dated equally famous/gorgeous guys, and Rochelle is engaged to JLS singer Marvin (ow, ow lucky girl). I know its rude to play favorites but I can’t deny I am kind of obsessed with Mollie King! First, Mollz is a very pretty girl (fellow blonde, ello!), she has an amazing sense of style and is rumored to have dated (or currently dating, you never know) prince Harry! In a cosmo interview Mollie described her own style as “classic” favoring navy’s and brown colors. Most any outfit Miss King rocks but here are a few of my fave.

hey girl, what you doing Saturday?

True to Mollie style this very classy mini dress flatters her figure and looks chic all at once. I really like this look because the dress is short and form fitting the high neckline makes this dress fun and trendy, plus Mollie really has the pins to pull it off! Mollie finishes the look with a great tan bag, and fun heels. The bag is a classic cut and a wonderfully neutral color that would go with many outfits and work for many different occasions. To switch up this look (and recycle like Kate Middleton) you could try different types of jewelry, like watches or fun necklaces. Looking hotty totty Miss King!

Classy and Sassy

This next look is a really awesome outfit for work or play.  Mollie pairs a navy (her signature) cardigan with a glitzy textured cream dress and looped tan skinny belt to bring it all together. This dress maybe a bit short for some offices but the idea and the lines of the outfit are really amazing! If you wanted to wear this look to work I would suggest a tad longer dress or a pencil skirt J This outfit is perfect for dinner with the girls or a fun night on the town as well. Furthermore, all of these pieces can be re-used to create many different outfits, a navy sweater and tan skinny belt are really great basics any girl should have. Finally, the Mollster adds brown peep toe heels (super cute) and a matching brown clutch to complete this classy look. We can certainly see why Harry is interested.

Finally, one of my absolute favorite looks Mollie pictured with band mate Frankie! Mollie has been known to rock some knee high socks, and she always does it right! I have to say for some reason girls tend to get skanky with the knee highs or air on the side of school girl, not Miss King! From head to toe Mollie wears a really cute coral tank with zippered back and large pendant necklace. Mollie pairs this versatile top with nice burgundy high waisted shorts. The look is completed with wine colored knee highs and awesome brown booties. Mollies look is fresh and I can’t wait to attempt to copy it myself. Once again all of these pieces will work well to create other outfits! Love it, team Sat all the way!
