Bootie, Bootie, Bootie Walking Everywhere!

I’ve touched on this in a previous posts but, now I will delve in deeper into my new found love of booties. When the bootie look first burst on the scene a year or so ago I thought every fashionista and celeb rocking the trend was truly disturbed but now I want to take back this notion. I am officially into the bootie but only with certain outfits, to me a bootie is not the new ballet flat or heel. I love booties with skinnies or hidden under a flare leg pant. Sometimes booties can be rocked with a skirt or dress but I think you’re walking a dangerously thin line there because you run the risk of making your leg look shorter by cutting yourself off at the ankle. So when in doubt with skirts and dresses I would opt out! Here are some of the best booties in my option!

These first bootie are a dressier style at Lulus by Luichiny.  I love the tan color, the studs on the back and the heel and the larger zipper. All these elements are on trend right now but are classic enough to go beyond a year lifespan! Another great thing about booties is you can rock some higher heels easily because a bootie almost a boot! Seriously cute and at 77 bucks a pop they are a sound investment!

A similar bootie but with a more causal feel (like everyday wear) is the Dixie bootie from nastygal.com. With a stacked heel and lace up details on the back of the shoe this bootie is fabulous. Also, these boots are vegan leather which maybe a pro or a con in your book, but for me personally it’s a thumbs up.  In addition these booties already have a little weathering, so if they get a little scuffed or worn that’s okay because let’s be honest none of us are perfect!

Finally, I think we all worship at the alter of Tory Burch, but these booties are seriously perfection. I love the Tory Burch logo of course, black leather makes these shoes very versatile and a hefty wedge for all of you clumsy girls who can't rock a real heel! Also, in all black like this these booties have a little bad ass edge to them! These shoes would go great with skinnies, black pants, black tights and a hot dress! At $395 each these are at the top of the budget for most people but if you can afford em, get em!

Love and Loathe

Every week there is an avalanche of new celeb images some from the paps, some from events, regardless celebs have to put their best fashion face forward 24/7! So this week I figured I would do looks that I love and loathed!

I will admit I am not always the biggest Ginnifer Goodwin fan but in this look girlfrand is killing it! The short hair may not be my style but it allows the bone structure in her face to come out and her short hair works well with this sexy little number. Ginnifer is at a pre-Emmys party and I love her dress. The long sleeves balance the shortness of the dress and really bring it into fall fashion. The light blue and black contrast is nice, not something you see on every event carpet and the stud detailing is incredible if you ask me. The collar and cuffs jewel embellishment is a nice touch, therefore Ginnifer didn’t need a whole lot of other jewelry. Miss Goodwin finishes this sassy look with a matching black clutch and booties! A chic look for dinner out or cocktails, take note ladies!

My second runner up for Love is Allison Williams at the same pre-Emmy party as chic Ginnifer above. The only reason I gave this look a runner up is because last week I highlighted Leslie Mann for her illusion top dress and this is a similar style, but I love it none the less. The illusion top is lovely and the lace used is really nice, large scale lace because if it was small and dainty no camera flash wouldn't pick it up. The bow tie waist makes Allison look nice and slim, the bottom skirt fits nicely and she finishes off the look with classic satin pointy heels. I am really on the fence about the color of this dress, the bright pink is a bit much, I would have preferred it in navy or hunter green for fall but overall love the look!

Finally, this is a look I just can’t get into. Krysten Ritter is wearing this dress at a different clearly less fashionable pre-Emmy event. From head to toe what is going on with girlfrand’s hair? I don’t know if that’s suppose to be a slicked back ponytail/bun or if she just popped out of the shower? This brocade on the top of her dress is on trend but all one color looks thick and matronly. Also, I can’t tell if her collar just isn’t sitting right or if she’s rocking a mock turtle neck on the red carpet, either way it’s a fail. And that see threw skirt, NO! Just no!  You know Krysten knew it was see-threw also because she wore that granny body suit underneath. Finally, the shoes are alright but aren’t enough to save this failing outfit!

Twelve and a Half Ounces of EMMY

That's right its a Friday publishing of LTF, I know wtf? Just let it happen. Its fall awards show season time so   naturally we need to award the most fashionable and shake an accusing finger at the ones who missed the mark. I watched Joan Rivers break this whole award show down and although I whole-heartedly agree and support the return of the gorgeous and talented Giuliana Rancic the show itself was pretty sub par and missed the mark in my book. And generally I couldn't agree less with Joan and crew. So here's really whats up. . . .

Leslie Mann killed it at the Emmy's this year. This bright orange/yellow was a big trend on the red carpet this year, and although I am not 100% sure why, its slightly fall-ish and on Mrs. Mann it works! First, of all this dress or anything like it has NEVER been done before, which is more difficult than it sounds so snaps for that Les. Although I am really liking the nude illusion top, sometimes this looks like lady of the night during the day (obvious fail), and sometimes it looks like your just trying too hard but this illusion top nicely contrasts the full skirted, bright bottom half. Finally, I think turquoise was a nice choice for the jewelry, unexpected and I am just a huge turquoise jewelry fan in general. Home girl finishes it off with a top knot, sign, sealed, delivered BEST DRESSED!

Next Cat Deeley's look at the Emmy's was really perfection. The bright tomato-y red color works great with her beautiful blonde hair and tanned skin tone. Also, let's talk about the origami draping of this dress is really on trend and done very well! In addition Cat is wearing this dress, the dress isn't wearing her. Finally, her jewelry is minimal, perfection and that CLUTCH! A clutch to die for! I find it a little hard to believe "So You Think You Can Dance?" was nominated for an Emmy, hence her attendance but I guess stranger things have happened? And truly this amazing dress and styling put everyone else to shame!

Finally, Heidi Klum what a cluster fuck. First thing girlfrand just broke up with long time love Seal, so she needed to look AMAZEBALLZ, instead I am afraid she really missed the mark. From top to bottom this dress looks like a sad blue impersonation of Marilyn Monroe's famous white dress. If you can manage to get over that element her boobs look saggy (one looks larger than the other?), the two slits are just too much skin and they run up her leg really too high. I personally blame Angelina Jolie, first she tries to make husband stealing look cool, next she thrusts her leg out everyone making ladies think that's how you land a winner like Brad Pitt, just NO! Come one Heidi, we know you can do better, just ask one of your project runway kids to design you something and style you better! Her hair and skin looks like a goddess but everything else is wrong!

Lemme Borrow that Scarf

As the weather cools and the leaves change my thoughts continue on fall fashion. Sure last time I addressed some of my new favorite things but let’s talk fall essentials.  True, the “essential-ness” of fall items depends where you live, for example you probably don’t need a hat and mittens in Malibu or Miami and likewise in Chicago or New York you probably won’t be rocking short sleeve sweaters or tissue tanks! Hence this blog may not apply to all, but to me fall essentials are boots, jackets and cold weather accessories (scarves, mittens, etc)! So here it goes . . . . . . .

Fall means boots weather your rocking equestrian, biker or booties every fashionista knows sneakers are only meant for the gym range. For me personally I have just really gotten into/accepted the bootie look. These boots are great because they are versatile, easy to get on and off and provide a fair amount more flexibility. That being said these boots do NOT go with everything or every look, wear accordingly. All that being said my favorite booties of the moment are DV by Dolce Vita’s Java ankle boot. Whether you chose the suede or leather doesn’t really matter these booties are the perfect height to tuck the bottom of your skinnies into or let your flares hang over. The buckle wrapping detail adds a bit of interest and luxury, while the heel is the perfect height for day or night. Plus, the stacked heel should be easy to walk around in and gives a much more causal feel than a stiletto.  You can purchase these bad boys at most department stores that carry DV or on endless.com for next day free shipping at $129.99 a pop!

Next I love a scarf, whether it’s for fall warmth or just a stylish statement. All Saints is an uber cool brand but their scarves in particular are pretty great, they offer a variety of colors, styles and my favorite the snood/infinity scarf! The particular scarf I picked was the statement scarf because when you lay it all out it’s like a huge ad for all saints and personally I am just into a good script. This scarf is also great because it’s not your typical solid or stripped scarf, so I dig it. You can purchase this item on the all saints website for $95!

Finally this hat from free people is pretty much IT! I love this hat because of its unique nature, the variation of thread color, the texture it creates, the variety of hidden bows and of course the lovely pom pom to top it all off. I am still partial to the beanie style because it’s just such a carefree style, it’s hard to mess it up. Plus, if you’re rocking a hat your probably covering up some subpar hair! I love a topper and this hat is no exception for $48 dollar hairs on freepeople.com!
